Describe how the Self-Study and Peer Review process were valuable to your organization.

The self-study exercise was valuable because it had us articulate in as clear a way as possible the issues and challenges we face as an organization. In the process we learned a lot about where we currently stand and what options we might have as deal with future challenges. The peer review process built on this learning because it gave us an external, unbiased view of these same problems. For the most part the process reinforced our understanding of what we do well and the areas where we need improvement, but it also gave some much needed new thinking on how to deal with the challenges we face.

Share an example of a best practice at your organization that was recognized during your QUIP Review, or that was developed as a result of your QUIP Review.

The review highlighted the very active role our faculty play in developing and leading international programs on campus. It also highlighted areas where we can use this faculty resource more effectively through more effective training ans support.

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience with the QUIP Program?

We found the process to be very rewarding. It is reassuring to have outside reviewers reaffirm the things we do well. But it is also very valuable to have the same reviewers look critically at how we can better meet the Standards of Good Practice set by The Forum. We recommend the QUIP process to any institution which is looking to improve its international programming.
